Matthew Delaney

Integrated Photonic Engineer ยท Application engineer

Background

I completed a PhD in physics at the Optoelectronic Research Center at Southampton University in 2020. This included free space optical experiment design, photonic simulation and integrated circuit design. After working as a photonic research scientist in London I set up and run my own photonic consulting company, for which more details can be found here.

I have a strong backgound in python, mostly for experimental automation (wafer probe stations), data science and visualisation as well as photonic circuit design using IPKISS.

Projects

University funding - Machine learning project, predicting university research grants from league tables.

Plastic recycling - Data visualization showing the effectiveness of recycling plastics in reducing pollution.

DSP calculator - Good example of Object Orientated Programming using proper (SOLID) coding practices.
